How to choose

  • The ruby orifice defines the jet diameter (0.25–0.35 mm).
  • Operating tip: replace the orifice and the mixing tube together. A worn orifice misaligns the jet, eats the tube from the side and cuts your cutting speed before you notice.
  • 316L high-pressure tubing is sold by the meter, in 1/4″ and 3/8″.

Which abrasive mesh should I use for waterjet cutting?

Mesh 80 is the most common: it balances cutting speed and edge finish on most metals and stone. Mesh 120 has a finer grain, for better edge quality and thin parts, with slightly slower cutting.

When should I replace the mixing tube?

When the tube bore wears, the jet widens, the kerf grows and the cut loses accuracy. Measure the exit bore periodically and replace the tube once it exceeds your process tolerance to avoid rework.
